Basel 2010, the place to see what is being created by the leading Independent watchmakers, meet them and find out why, first hand. The AHCI has a stand where member's showcase their products, and usually debut candidate members for the world to see and find out about. Extra-ordinary timepieces, both wrist watches and clocks are on display, all stunning examples of the horological arts.

A visual feast for anyone fascinated by those few individuals willing to risk it all. This year was no exception. I am honored to call many friends and have for the past several years now realised why their work is so compelling. I suggest you take a good look, as I think you will too. Time as they say is the great healer, and in an industry rife with way too much marketing and "hot air", I have found a few redeeming players in a tiny niche and restored my excitement and faith in contemporary fine watchmaking.

Getting to know why they create their works, is for me usually the moment when I truly get to appreciate what it is they create. I hope to share this so others can too.

Cheers,

Tim
